Are you a fitness professional who works with older adults? Do you want to expand the tools you have to engage your clients? Then we have the program for you.
Our 12 hour curriculum is delivered over 2 days and includes:
Connecting basic movement techniques to how to improve safety. Think how knowing the right way to land a jump can make stepping off a curb safer.
Modifying basic movement and strength training for older adults. Think always jumping up, not down.
A curriculum for an 8 week research based program, including (fun) homework for students.
We also refer certified coaches to facilities and programs with older adults and solicit certified coaches to teach the classes we run. To participate in the referrals and teach classes, you must be CPR certified and pass a background check. We prefer that you also have a fitness certification (e.g. NASM, ACE, AAFA, etc).
Our next certification class will be delivered virtually November 13-14. It will be from 11am eastern / 8am pacific to 5pm eastern / 2pm pacific each of Friday / Saturday. You can sign up here. You will need a few things for the class:
a 8'x8' flat space to move around in
The ability to access Zoom on a laptop or desktop with a video camera. Tablets can work in a pinch; phones don't work
A tennis ball or lacrosse ball that bounces
A stable chair to demonstrate support for exercises
A roll of masking tape
A sense of adventure!
We will provide a workbook for the class to support the instruction.
